Arezou Shokoufandeh has been interested in space for all her life. Her very two children are named after celestial objects; Keyvan, which means “King of Universe”, or Saturn, in Persian, and Sirus, named after the brightest observable star in Earth’s night sky, Sirius.
In 2012, when she was browsing the images from the Hubble Space Telescope as soon as they were released, she felt a stroke of inspiration, and decided to craft what none other have; jewelry which takes star maps of the constellations visible through the lens of a telescope, perfectly replicating hundreds of stars from their maps, and translating them to pieces wearable by all.
Unable to find the method to capture all the details of those vast star maps, which included galaxies, star clusters, nebulas, and many more celestial objects, she created her own unique way of making beaded jewelry.
Following her passion for the last eight years, she has converted many astronomical events into various jewelry pieces and sets. Though she is still new to the jewelry making scene, she hopes this is the best first step one could take and is eager to learn more.
